Environmental Protection Policy Statement
Purpose:

Sambekiel & Co Resources Ltd acknowledges a responsibility to the environment, and we express our commitment towards implementing practices which will promote environmental sustainability. The following policy governs the management of the environmental aspects of our company, with specific focus on the conservation of resources and the reduction of waste.

This policy relates to how all operations in our company will be continually reviewed and improved, so that we will truly be able to integrate environmental and social considerations into our everyday practices. The company will consistently strive to raise awareness in the community, encourage participation and train employees in environmental matters.

Principles:
  • Comply with any laws governing the environment, and actively look for ways to improve on these guidelines.
  • Work towards the conservation of energy, water and resources in all our operations.
  • Strive to better understand both the direct and indirect impact that our practices may have on the environment.

  • Provide training/newsletters/posters to staff on implementing our sustainable policies.

Health And Safety Policy
  • Being involved in the workplace health and safety system.
  • Sticking to correct procedures and equipment.
  • Wearing protective clothing and equipment as and when required.
  • Reporting any pain or discomfort as soon as possible.
  • Ensuring all accidents and incidents are reported.
  • Helping new employees, trainees and visitors to the workplace understand the right safety procedures and why they exist.
  • Telling your manager immediately of any health and safety concerns.
  • Keeping the work place tidy to minimise the risk of any trips and falls.
Drug and Alcohol Policy Guide
The Drug & Alcohol Policy and Procedures will apply to all employees of [The Company] as well as sub–contractors. Sambekiel & Co Resources Ltd will support its staff in achieving this goal through the following initiatives:
  • promotes employees’ wellbeing, health and safety

  • recognises the importance of satisfying the client and providing quality service
  • improves business performance including management of business risk and associated costs
  • supports the requirements to comply with SCIRT’s Drug & Alcohol Policy
Sambekiel & Co Resources Ltd is committed to creating a drug and alcohol free workplace to safely achieve its business objectives. This commitment:
  • Education/ Training
    The Drug & Alcohol Programme will be supported by educational material and managers’ training conducted by recognised specialists
  • Pre-employment Testing
    New appointments are contingent on applicants returning a negative drug test
  • Post Accident/ Incident Testing
    Employees may be tested for the presence of drugs and/or alcohol when they are involved in an incident or accident where their actions may have contributed to the event. Certain serious incidents will result in mandatory testing
  • Reasonable Cause Testing
    Employees may be tested for the presence of drugs and/or alcohol where their actions, appearance, behaviour or conduct suggests drugs and/or alcohol may be impacting on their ability to work effectively and safely
  • Random Testing
    Employees observed taking, selling, supplying or being in the possession of drugs and/or alcohol at work will be disciplined according to [The Company]'s serious misconduct procedures. Employees refusing to consent to undertake drug/alcohol testing will also be disciplined as above
  • Serious Misconduct
    [The Company] may assist with a Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Programme for employees either voluntarily asking for assistance or testing positive for drugs and/or alcohol for the first time under this policy
Company Security Policy Statement, Objectives and Crisis Management Policy
Company Security Policy Statement

It is the policy of Sambekiel & Co Resources Ltd to provide a secure working environment, by establishing and maintaining the required security measures to prevent unlawful acts against ships, which endanger the safety and security of persons and property on board company ships.

These objectives are to be achieved by:
  • A ship security assessment plan specific to each individual ship
  • Comprehensive training for company personnel
  • Actively promote security awareness amongst company personnel
  • Regular documented reviews and internal audits of security procedures and plans, in order to allow for constant update and improvement to the plan
  • All employees are expected to comply with the required procedures within the ship security plan and should be familiar with the relevant security duties required of them and the measures required protecting the ship from unlawful act
Company Objectives
  • Provide security procedures and practices for ship operations to protect the security of ports and the wider community
  • Establish safeguards to reduce the risk to visitors, crew and port personnel on board company ships
  • Improve the security skills and awareness of company personnel ashore and onboard ship
  • Prepare contingency measures for emergency relating to possible security incidents
Crisis Management Policy

Sambekiel & Co Resources Ltd is committed to implementing appropriate management strategies and processes to identify and manage INCIDENTS within the business operations that have the potential to lead to CRISIS situations that can have negative implications on the overall business as well as the market perceptions of the organization.
To be prepared for and manage such situations Sambekiel & Co Resources Ltd will:

  • Establish a Crisis Management Team at the Corporate level to provide effective strategic support to manage crisis situations
  • Identify potential crisis situations and other unforeseen events within the business areas
  • Prepare appropriate risk based strategies and plans to manage crisis situations as part of the company risk management process
  • Train key management staff in the principles of crisis management and undertake appropriate exercises to evaluate the effectiveness of the strategies and plans
  • Periodically review the crisis management plans to ensure they are appropriate to the business
  • Liaise closely with our customers, emergency services and other government organisations in the development and execution of our response to and management of emergencies and crises
